Night of the Moonjellies:
We searched the internet for videos of moonjellies.
We brainstormed on if they owned their own business what would it be. They drew a picture of their store (Lemur - dressmaker, Tamarin - pet shop). I had Tamarin write me a couple of sentences about what she sold in her shop.
I pulled out the pastels I had gotten at Target on clearance a long time ago. Lemur went straight for the black and covered her canvas *sigh*. Tamarin drew hearts since it was around valentine's day. (I know I'm way late in posting this. I've been sick and busy.) As you can see, we talked about how pastels can be smudged with your fingers for get a different look.
There were a lot of other related things that are suggested in the Five in a Row book that we did, but like I've stated before with Oak Meadow, the line at which simply sharing experience crosses to sharing copyrighted information is a little fuzzy.
I did find a few things from Pinterest that fit right in with this:
Paper Plate Moonjellies
I also came across a menu writing prompt idea. I made my own menu heading. Tamarin filled it in with what she would sell if she owned a restaurant along with how much she thought these things should cost.
She was fairly spot on with her prices too, except she only wanted to sell fish sticks in groups of 10 at $1 a fish stick.
So anyway, there is our first jump into Five in a Row, so far, so good. The girls were sad when I returned the book to the library yesterday. I told them if they wanted their own copy then someone could ask for their birthday. I love how attached they get to books.
