I don't have any bottles, but I do have balloons. One of these nights we are going to turn off all the lights. I am going to fill a bunch of balloon with the small glow bracelets and we will read our Ten Friendly Fireflies: A Light-Up Counting Book
Giant
The main story of the week will be Jack and the Beanstalk. Which will lead us to grind (haha see! G!) with our mortar and pestle. We're going to make a bean stalk..... at least I think this will work. Have you seen the photos of the yarn easter eggs? I've got long animal making balloons... I'm thinking we can make beanstalks with them... I'll let you know if it works!
Grateful
Something we are going to add to our weekly lessons is character building words. This week will be grateful. I have a few store bought thanksgiving crafts that focus on naming things you are grateful for. Good thing I forgot about them in November!
Giraffe
Isn't that cute? We are so doing that! I'm sure they'll be a big brown blob by the end, but so what. There are a lot of interesting videos and photos online from giraffes fighting to drinking from a lake. We are going to talk some more about Africa. We already started on this a little when we read our books about Kwanzaa the last week of December.
Kinder
Tamarin's reading is coming along wonderfully! She is zipping through the simple readers now.
We'll finally be done with the first Harry Potter book this week (yeah, I dropped the ball on that one.... we sort of lost the book for a couple of months... oops). Not sure if we'll move on to the second book or read a few shorter books in between like Jane and the Dragon
We're going to stay simple on writing this week.
No math, just talking about numbers again this week. I am going to do something like this though. I think she'll enjoy the dice part.
Of course, mine won't be that pretty. I've got a Judy Clock
Pre-K
Lemur sat through half a chapter of Harry Potter today.... wow.... that's new. She normally can't make it through half a page. I may pull out some short chapter books and let her pick out one for us to read together over the next few weeks. She probably won't tolerate more than two chapters a week, but it's exciting for me!
Oh, if you are wondering why I am going with a letter theme this week, Tamarin is needing help differentiating G and J. I'm hoping if I make it fun enough it'll give her something to remember them each by. Week J coming soon.
