It was my favorite. I mean not a week went by that I didn't use it. When I was pregnant I used it nearly every night for at least a month. It belonged to my mother. I have so many fond memories of it as a child. We always used it when we ate spaghetti.
Now you must understand, frying is a religion in the south. " It was a very nice dish, sweetie, but it should have been fried." Potatoes are the number one fried food in America. Those wonderful yellow sticks of love reaching off the plate saying, "Take me, me next." What could be better than that? Answer: Curly fries. A fry that doesn't have an ending... it goes on forever. You could be full before reaching the end of one 'fry'. Serenity in a vegetable.
As I remove my gem of 80s kitchenware from the dishwasher this morning I notice the plastic was out of place. I lost the spare blade years ago and hadn't bothered to remove this one since. Beneath the hint of out of place plastic was a mosaic. It fell apart in my hands.
$100 to replace it. Not going to. I'll always have the memories. RIP TaterTwister.
