Winter Solstice

Just finished wrapping the girl's Solstice gifts. Today we will talk about symbols. We will talk about how modern religions use many of the symbols of old Solstice traditions. We have discussed the rotation of the earth around the sun, but we will review it again today. If Lydia cooperates we might step outside and collect stuff for a wreath.

I had a long post written, but decided most people wouldn't take it the right way. Nothing I say is going to enlighten anyone. So I will just say this: The reason for all the celebrations in the winter months is light, family, and life. It is the time when, before we had heated transportation, people were forced indoors with their families and friends. These celebrations are to remind people that the light will return, the cycle of life will continue, and soon enough you will be able to escape the family and run in the fields :)
