Okay, I'm not a very crafty person. It's not clean, it's free handed by a sleep deprived mother at one in the morning. However, the girls were happy with it and that's what matters!
So I made a booby trap (Where did the term booby trap come from? Just curious if anyone knows cause I don't.) So with Top Gear playing in the background (because what says Christmas better than a British accent) we commenced wrapping. Chris recalls his retail days of professional wrapping. I on the other hand have a get it done approach. We both enjoyed laughing at each other. He knows all the things he is getting because I am an awful gift giver. I can't keep a secret. It's one of my better qualities! I on the other hand have a surprise in my stocking...... Shhh... he's almost asleep. I also love to peek :)
This season was not normal for us. No trip to see Santa, no Polar Express train ride, no meet up with cousins, but they took it fairly well. They wanted to write another letter to Santa yesterday reminding him exactly what they wanted. I told them it was too late to change their minds and nothing would make it in time. The good news is they are both getting exactly what they wanted anyway.
A few nights ago we did our Polar Express night. They opened new pajamas the elves had brought, they watched the movie, and drank a special hot chocolate the elves had left in the crock pot. It's a pretty good recipe and I liked the fact you could walk away from it without stressing!
We had a Christmas Eve meal with a southwestern flair. It was surprisingly good. I wasn't expecting it to be worthy of a repeat, but I think it is.
Well, at least Chris and I ate it. The girls ate cookies and eggnog. Oh come on, it's only once a year, why not?
Hope everyone has a festive day! It looks like we have an ice storm headed our way. Be careful everyone!
