2014-2015 School Year

Well, when your car keeps giving you grief and everything else around you suddenly needs repairs, summer vacation gets cut short. So much for adventuring this summer. This works out in the end since the new baby will be here in October. I'm not sure how much we will get done this fall.  Yes, that's right, for those of you who don't know six monkeys is about to become seven :)

These are our school books this year.

History

Science

Handwriting

Math

Phonics

And Teach Your Monster to Read (It's FREE!)

Geography

 Other

My plan through the end of this year (which will probably change in October if we're being perfectly honest).

July and August:
We are starting with the Big Bang and working through the phylums of the animal kingdom (Real Science Odyssey).
We are spending most of July wrapping up the workbooks we didn't finish last year.
I'm hoping to dedicate a month to Dinosaurs and the last Ice Age (mostly supplemental books from the library and the Usborne Encyclopedia of World History).

September-December:
When we get to humans we will examine the systems of the human body (Real Science Odyssey). Then we get into human history (History Odyssey Ancients) and more involved geography (Trail Guide to World Geography).
By the time we finish Real Science Odyssey our Magic Schoolbus Science Kits should start arriving. Yay!

Tamarin is reading at or above a 2nd grade level so my goal for her this year is to improve her handwriting. I'm going to try to get Lemur reading by the end of this year. I just hope I can get Howler to sit down at the table for ten minutes a day to do something. I'll call that an accomplishment and successful year :)

What do your plans look like? Please share! I'd love to hear what other people are doing!
