Apple Pie and Globetrotting to Grandma's

The girls did wonderful work on their pies. The only thing I helped with was some of the peeling and cutting of apples, but the girls did quite a bit of that too.

"Peeling is Booooorring." "I don't want to! She can do it!" "Why can't I cut up more apples?" We lost our way a bit during the peeling and cutting process and nearly deteriorated into mama making all the pies herself, but we recovered and the girls managed to finish. The recipe we used is in the back of How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World. It's a good recipe, but not my favorite. The liquid didn't coagulate.

Naturally the girls wanted to take the pies to Grandma's and I forgot to snap a photo before we left. Then I sorta dropped Tamarin's a bit :( they were both very pretty before that. Tamarin was very sweet about my folly and was still proud of her pie.

Since we've been studying a journey around the world I decided we would treat the sleep over at Grandma's like we were going on a genuine trip. I made a packing check list for each of them.
Tamarin took this seriously. She collected all of her items and checked them off diligently. Lemur threw everything and then some into her suitcase. Tamarin and I helped Howler.

Lemur was being a ham and getting too close to the camera so none of her pics came out. Tamarin also packed for Shaggy (you can see him with his traveling sweater behind her).

This was a great week, but there was a ton of information for them to digest. We will probably take it easy this week with a lot of review and reading for fun. I think we need an easy school week before we move on to Papa Piccolo.
